I have a new love in my life. I’m not being dramatic, and I know I’m late jumping onto this particular bandwagon! I’m not a tv watcher so that’s what makes it even sweeter. If you haven’t jumped onboard this PBS masterpiece theater train…..do so immediately! As in ASAP. Run….don’t walk to your nearest streaming device.
What can I say about Downton Abbey? I love period pieces, but it’s been a long time since I’ve been taken captive by one of them. Can I gush for a minute…..I love the cinematography, the scenery, the styles and fashion, the visit to another time period (early 1900’s), the british culture, the history, the accents and quite surprisingly the storyline. It’s clean, modest, appropriate and in the world we live in, it’s nice to visit a place and time where manners and modesty still meant something.
I’m sure that’s part of the allure! Downton Abbey is a breath of fresh air on the screen. And if you know of any other series similar that I’d enjoy, please tell me. Hubby is hooked too. Last night my teen daughter lingered around and started asking questions. Sure won’t hurt for her to learn a little bit of history in disguise. 😉
So please don’t give any spoilers. I’ve only just finished season 2. Currently Downton Abbey just started it’s third season last month. I streamed season 1 on Netflix and season 2 on Hulu Plus. All of season 3 is On Demand on my dvr.
TELL ME: Are you a Downton Abbey fan? How long have you been watching? What do you love about it?

I’m late to this party, too! I received Season 1 & 2 DVD’s for Christmas, and am just into Season 2 now. LOVING IT!!! Totally agree with you. I’ve not tuned into any of the current episodes on TV, because I want to watch it all in order…
Thanks for no spoilers! 🙂
We arrived late to the party, too. We watched all of Season 1 & Season 2 then were primed to watch Season 3 “live”. Oh my! We love it!! We got our daughter & son-in-law hooked, too but they’re only on Season 2. Season 3 ends next Sunday. Oh my. I think it’s imperative everybody/anybody watch the series “in order” to fully appreciate the nuances of the story line. Miss an episode & you’ll be confused! So there – I’ve gushed right along with you. TV is normally pretty icky but this is amazing. If you happen to like action/adventure the British series “The State Within” is also a good watch. It’s current day but the peek into crooked politics via the storyline is an eye-opener. Not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure.
Thanks for the recommendation Michelle. I’m thankful that with all the streaming options, we can now discover and keep up with good series. It’s definitely more efficient that way.
Downton Abbey FREAK here! Love every minute of it!
Can’t believe how amazingly good it is!!
Like you, I am not a TV watcher. However, I have two shows that are on my list that I need to get with the program…the first, is Downtown Abbey, the next is Scandal.

Hi Velva!! So glad to see you. 😉
I’m late to the party too! Got through season 1 this weekend, I just started season 2. I love these people & the time, it’s so interesting!! Even my 5 yo daughter was coloring in the same room, I could see she was intrigued.

Aggie, I only have a few episodes left in the current season. I can’t believe when I get through them we have to wait until next January! 🙁
