Easy homemade cranberry sauce {Holiday Favorite}

For years as a kid growing up, the highlight of my holiday meal was always the cranberry sauce. Like most kids I was intrigued by the sweet but tart taste of cranberry sauce. And also like most kids I didn’t like the chunks of fruit, instead preferring the molded can of jellied cranberry sauce.

Now that I’m older, and so much more into trying new things and making things from scratch….it only seemed natural that I’d attempt cranberry sauce. It had been on my list awhile, and am pretty sure last year was the first time. Hey, after having 3 kids…..my memory isn’t what it used to be. Seriously….I have some issues. 😉

I couldn’t believe how incredibly EASY it was!! And if you haven’t tried it…you simply must. It’s just 3 ingredients…..cranberries, sugar and water. There is really no way to mess it up….put it all in a pot, bring to a boil and lower the temp to simmer for a while. I have to say you’ll definitely feel like a kitchen queen….all domestic and stuff. I hope you’ll even feel confident enough to play around with it. It’s really fool proof. Add a bit of orange zest or sub out part of the water for orange juice. Add in some diced apples or sprinkle with a bit of cinnamon, cloves or nutmeg.

It keeps for a couple weeks in the fridge if you want to spread it onto of your morning bagel or toast. SO, so good!! Promise me you’ll try it for Christmas!? Coming up next, I have this new recipe in which you’ll need this cranberry sauce. So get cooking!

Is there anything you’ve tried in the kitchen recently, and was surprised at how easy it was?
